Round 1 (British Qualifier 1)
Sixteen drivers appeared for the first round of the 2017 LFS Bangers grades season yesterday at the classic Blackwood Car Park circuit.
The 2016 British Champion Rik started his quest to retain his black and white chequered roof with an excellent performance to win the meeting, taking a heat and a final and crucially never finishing below 4th in the points scoring races to net 74 points. Miniman made it a Dutch 1-2 with two heat victories and an allcomers win. Splat demonstrated what he can do when he's not focused on wrecking with two heat wins of his own to move out of white grade once again with Michal picking up the one remaining heat and the other allcomers. A special mention must go to Pennywise who had an excellent night, picking up three third places (one in the final) to reach Superstar for the first time.
Top 10 scored in heats and final. Two Allcomers were also held. Drivers in italics finished but did not score points. 2 points went to each surviving driver in the DD.

Round 2 (British Qualifier 2)
A slightly lower thirteen drivers appeared at Yarmouth for the second British qualifier. Despite it being a grade meeting, those deadly posts ruined many races to the point that only 2 races had at least 10 cars finish!
For the second graded meeting in a row, a Dutch driver won with 74 points. Tonight though it was Miniman and not Rik (who didn't attend) with that big score as he claimed two heats and the final alongside three second places and a fourth place. There were just two other winners on the night: Cap claimed the opening heat, both Allcomers and the DD to finish second 12 points behind while Brett surprisingly went for the rod rather than the wreck as he usually does, winning three heats in the process and ending up a SINGLE point behind Cap on 61 points!
Top 10 scored in heats and final. Two Allcomers were also held. Drivers in italics finished but did not score points. 5 points went to the winner of the DD.
Heat 1: Cap, Colin, Woody, Miniman, Jam, Splat, Looney, Brett
Heat 2: Brett, Miniman, Woody, Colin, Jam, Michal, Mr. T-Bone, Splat, Aaron, Cap, Pepino

Coincidentally, this was the last ever meeting on the old Blackwood environment as we upgrade to version 0.6R. It will be sorely missed, having been the cornerstone of the league since its beginning in 2008 and used so often for bangers before that. The new version will never have the original's charm, especially the inimitable Car Park Oval.

Round 3 (British Qualifier 3)
A lowly nine drivers appeared for the St. Patrick's Day meeting at the debuting Nutts Corner. Although there were single digits for the first time this season, those that attended put on an excellent show with some great racing and decent hitting on the Ulster circuit, which was a slight bit too big for the 2 Litres.
It was a Dutch 1-2 as reigning British Champion Rik came out on top with an excellent performance: four heat wins, the DD and no finishes below 3rd in any points race netted him 78 points. Team Bandicoot teammate Miniman finished second 8 points behind as he won the final - which saw the top 3 all record the same best lap time of 15.66s - and first allcomers and also picked up four 2nd places. Michal won a heat and ended up third while Jam won the second allcomers and finished fourth. Amazingly, Jon claimed the final heat by a near-impossible margin of 0.02 seconds.

Round 4 (British Qualifier 4)
The lowest grades attendance of the season so far came at Standlake, where just eight drivers competed. Once again, despite the low attendance it was still a great night of racing action.
Reigning British champion Rik came out on top with 74 points that included two heat wins and the final: cruically, the Dutchman finished in the top 3 in each points scoring race. Looney finished five points behind with two heat wins of his own, while Michal and Jon also picked up heat wins. Current European champion Jam claimed the first two allcomers, and present points champion Cap picked up the last allcomers. It was the silver roof who was then rolled by Splat to give the DD veteran yet another last man standing win.
Top 10 scored in heats and final. Three Allcomers were also held. 5 points went to the winner of the DD.

Round 5 (World Qualifier 1)
A new low was recorded at the Blackwood Car Park with just seven attendees. As in previous weeks, the low numbers did not mean low action, with the non-points Allcomers and DD providing the biggest carnage of the evening.
Current points champion Cap claimed the meeting, thanks in part to his four heat wins (three successive). European Champion followed behind in second with a heat win and two allcomers. Michal tied with Looney despite the Czech driving claiming a heat, final and an Allcomers, while Brett claimed a rare DD win.

Round 6 (World Qualifier 2)
The first World Qualifier's low total was matched in the second WQ from Ipswich and the sixth graded meeting overall; although 8 attended, one driver couldn't race due to internet issues. Due to the size of the Suffolk circuit, a number of the early races were quite tame in terms of crashing action, but the two four-car allcomers more than made up for it!
It was a debut to remember for Norwegian driver #63 Silva as he took full advantage of his white roof status and blitzed the field, not finishing lower than third in any of the heats and final and also winning the first three races of the evening. European champion Jam finished second on the night claiming two heats while points champion Cap calimed the last heat and both allcomers to finish third. There were two surprise winners of the final and DD in Brett and Jon respectively.

Round 7 (World Qualifier 3)
The first double-digit grades meeting since February saw 10 drivers turn up at Birmingham. The unusual banked surface combined with the perilous insides of the bends saw many drivers get stuck, but all were helped off by other drivers which was great to see. We also had all four graded title winners in attendance with the World (Pepino), Points (Cap), European (Jam) and British (Rik) champions racing, which is a rarity!
In fact, the champions showed why they have their titles as all four of them ended in the top 5. It was the red and yellow chequered roof that claimed the meeting though as Jam beat Cap by A SINGLE POINT to win the meeting; #616's back-to-back heat wins as well as an allcomers got him the round 7 victory as #27 also picked up a heat win. British champion Rik claimed third with two heat successes while the only non-champion in the top 5 - Czech driver Michal - a;sp won a heat. The 2 Litre World Champion Pepino won the final and the "Formula 1 Stockcars" Allcomers (which was absolute hilarity) with Splat coming out on top in a gruelling DD with Michal that saw the latter rolled just 5 minutes before he would have got a share of the points.

Re: 2017 Graded Meetings Results
that final result is messed up,pepino was in first position from start of race and others were in front on same lap some had blue flag from pepino
after 1 lap and others even a lap down when they were on same lap, brett did not even finish the race did a few laps then could not see his car just his ping going up ontrack (which he had problems with most of the meeting and it happend in a previous race )
might of been checkpoints on pepino being a lap in front or the zero all done before everyone was lined up

Having watched the replay in question, the zero_all was applied at pretty much the same time Pepino managed to reverse past the checkpoint and therefore record himself as being a lap up. I would have restarted the race immediately had this been noticed.
Brett was in a curious position of not being visible to anyone else but was still connected to the server. I don't know why his connection didn't time out but it was incredibly strange that he remained on the server.
Birmingham will be monitored more closely in future meetings to prevent this from happening again. I apologise for this oversight.

Round 8 (World Qualifier 4)
Just the eight drivers attended the eighth graded meeting and also the final qualifier for the 2 Litre World Final next month. Wimbledon's posts provided good wrecking opportunities while its wide racing surface gave the drivers some excellent racing. The MRT special races proved incredibly enjoyable, and they may return later on in the season as a support formula!
It was the reigning Points Champion who came out on top as Cap snatched the meeting from Rik with a late burst to win by 5 points. A meeting of two halves saw the first five races won by Dutch drivers and the remaining races won by non-Dutchmen, with Cap claiming the last heat, the final, the second MRT allcomers and the crucial DD; also important was #27's not finishing outside of the top three in any points scoring race. The British Champion won the first three heats but had no further wins depsite three successive seconds, including one in the final. Colin made it to red grade for the first time with two heat wins, while Michal won the first MRT race and the MRT DD and Jam won the sole standard allcomers race that was held. It was also good to see Dutchman 669 DarkMetalTim return after a period away, and after a scrappy start, fought back well to eventually get fourth in the final.
Top 10 scored in heats and final. Three Allcomers and a MRT DD were also held. 5 points went to the winner of the DD.

Re: 2017 Graded Meetings Results
Round 9 (European Qualifier 1)
A remarkable FIFTEEN drivers attended Boerhaar for the first qualifier for the European Championship and the ninth graded meeting of the season. The turnout was the highest since the first meeting of the season, and also had two debutants: French driver 22 El Compressor and British driver 247 Xela (the latter apparently raced in the league in 2010 but I have currently been unable to confirm this). Boerhaar's dirt surface combined with its perilous ditches provided some great racing along with some phenomenal hits.
Current British Champion Rik took the top honours, finishing three points ahead of the newly-crowned World Champion and reigning points champion Cap. The Dutchman won the first three heats and an MRT allcomers, but crucially finished in the Top 10 in every single points race. His English rival crucially failed to score in heat 1, but picked up four successive seconds before the big final win as well as the first allcomers. The driver of the evening however was Cornholio, who in just his second LFS Bangers meeting won three consecutive heats. He ended up joint third with Bokito, who managed two seconds and a third. El Compressor had a debut to remember as he also claimed points in every race to finish fifth. The other winners on the night were Jam in the last allcomers and Pennywise in the DD after he eliminated Brett, who was the only driver in the field to end up pointless!
Top 10 scored in heats and final. Three Allcomers were also held. Drivers in italics finished but did not score points. 5 points went to the winner of the DD.

Re: 2017 Graded Meetings Results
Round 10 (European Qualifier 2)
A decent turnout of twelve drivers turned up for the debut of Ter Apel in the league for the second qualifier for the European Championship and the tenth and penultimate graded meeting of the season. Two returnees after a while away competed, and they were Norwegian Reliant Robin World Champion 63 Silva and American 22 Ryu, who hadn't raced since last September. Ter Apel's quick pace and lethal barriers produced a number of great races and brutal shots, so it is definitely a venue for the future.
In a surprise victory (no doubt helped by his white grading) it was relative newcomer Husky who topped the pile, with two heat wins along the way. Behind him in second was Silva, once again showing his incredible racing skill as he claimed a heat and a second in the final. Ryu marked his return with a joint third, winning one heat on merit and being given one generously by Silva after Brett cut the open infield to take him out, with World Champion Cap tying on points thanks to a heat and final win, while also picking up an MRT Allcomers race. Looney was the other winner on the night, his switch to XRG proving beneficial in the DD while also claiming the other MRT Allcomers.

Re: 2017 Graded Meetings Results
Round 11 (European Qualifier 3)
First of all, please let me apologise for what went on tonight. It was well below the high standards I hold for running these meetings and a number of drivers felt this way too. Those who raced will know which drivers decided to attend the meeting and attempt to "troll" it by acting like idiots. If the drivers in question want to apologise for their moronic behaviour, then I will happily accept that. Otherwise, you can consider yourselves gone, because the league does not want people behaving like you did. Due to this nonsense, I did not feel that "special" Allcomers would have been appropriate.
Onto the meeting itself, and it was another set of 12 drivers who attended the eleventh and final graded meeting of 2017, which was also the third and final qualifier for December's European Championship. Emmen was the venue, and it was no surprise that big hitting was the order of the day, with all races having big pileups on the bends.
Naturally, it was a Dutchman who came out on top in Emmen as current British champion Rik dominated the field with four heat wins, the final and an Allcomers to end up 20 points ahead of Cap in second place; unfortunately for #997, this wasn't enough to overhaul the newly crowned World Champion from taking first place on the European Championship grid. Two other Teaam Bandicoot members were successful on the night, with Miniman claiming a heat and the DD and Pepino a heat. Jam was the only non-TB driver to win a race with the first Allcomers.
Top 10 scored in heats and final. Two standard Allcomers were also held. Drivers in italics finished but did not score points. 5 points went to the winner of the DD.
