We had 12 events in total, and all of them were incredible. I would like to specifically point out the absolutely mental Death Lane Xtreme on South City. Ever since I left [CAD] in 2009 and stopped running the LFS DD League in 2011, I've wanted to get a crowd like that on a DD layout. It took me back to those days and I really wished we'd had the sort of layout creation tools we have now back in the day. I must apologise though for the lap length being completely unsuitable for the number of cars; unfortunately I forgot that it's about a minute EACH WAY, not each lap. It really should have been 4 laps, not 6 and for that I can offer my sincerest apologises. We could have had another race or two if I'd realised it would take as long as it did!

For now, here are the results from last night. A special congratulations must go to 616 Jam for being the last ever final winner in the Firecracker Redux, and to 66 Colin for being the last ever DD winner (and by that mark the last ever LFS Bangers race winner). I will try and write up something more spectacular for each race later.

Car Park Oval 2 Litres: Shane, Jake, Foster, Miniman, Jam, Dean, Colin, Crashman, Rik, Stwarm, Storm, Drakey, SNI, Hunter, Beatdrop, Pepino, Jon, Looney, Mozza, Dumbo, Spook

Fern Bay Smallfield All Cars: Foster, Michal, Jam, Pepino, Crashman, Sam, Rik, Shane, Stwarm, Colin, Drift Boy, Miniman, Dumbo, Storm

Death Lane Xtreme DD Unlims: Rik, Sam (race declared after the winner had crossed the line due to it taking far too long)

Yarmouth Figure 8 2 Litres: Miniman, Rik, Jam, Sam, Colin, Pepino, Bender, Michal, Drakey, Jake, Shane, Dean, Hunter, Brett, Storm

Firecracker Redux: Jam, Colin, Sam, Dumbo, Drakey, Pepino, Jake, Shane, Jon

So I guess it's time for me to write out a massive paragraph of thanks to everyone.

When I first got my Live For Speed S2 licence way back in February 2008 as a 16 year old who hadn't even left secondary school yet, never would I have known it would have taken me on the journeys I've had in the game and still be there nearly 12 years later.

From the lynchpin that has been LFS Bangers and all its associated leagues, such as FNBangers, WNBangers, the original LFSBangers.co.uk league and Get Walled, to the brief by comparison but incredibly significant [noobs] Destruction Derby, [CAD] Destruction Derby and LFS Destruction Derby servers and leagues, as well as a fairly minor spell on [TC] City Driving years ago, I've enjoyed the significant majority of it.

I want to of course give a special thanks to Cap for having been the man who pretty much got us all together in the first place with his inimitable running of the league in the first place for 6 almost unbroken years, Daz for setting up the first league I adminned, Russ for his brilliant original LFSBangers.co.uk league, and Looney & Jam for their invaluable support in terms of the forum and server and InSim system. I'd also like to thank all the layout makers (Foster, Pepino, Miniman, Brett, Timmy, Gizmo & everyone else) who provided us with such great recreations to race on down the years.

Thank you to everyone for the contributions you've made over these last 12 seasons, even those who have not been involved in LFS Bangers for a long time. Every single contribution, positive, negative or neutral, made an impact. This league will never be forgotten for the friendships it has created.

A notable if temporary returnee was Turkish driver 667 South, who was a strong competitor earlier on in the season but had not competed for a few months. 13 of these drivers made it to the European Championship itself though and due to the fact it was the last standard meeting, there was no Last Chance Qualifier held.

The 13 car grid for the 2019 European Championship was therefore as follows (pole on the left side of the front row; reigning champion denoted by the italic C in gold brackets next to their name):

628 Stwarm - - - - - - - - - - - - 320 Hunter
911 Cole (C) - - - - - - - - - - - - 616 Jam
673 Sam - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 606 Jon
473 Dean - - - - - - - - - - - - - 573 Shane
961 Pepino - - - - - - - - - - - - 66 Colin
97 Jake - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 474 Miniman
675 Beatdrop - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

The last ever major title race on LFS Bangers fittingly produced one of the greatest races ever, with the lead changing multiple times and the title was decided on the very last bend...

2019 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP
1st: Shane
2nd: Miniman
3rd: Cole
Other finishers: Jam, Hunter, Sam, Dean, Pepino, Jake, Jon

Incredibly it's back to back major titles for Shane, who has added the European Championship to but was made to work incredibly hard for it by no fewer than 4 competitors, all of whom had their fair share of the lead.

There was an immediate change on the start line as surprise front row pairing Stwarm and Hunter were passed by reigning champion Cole and it looked like he was on course to retain the title he won last December, with the Moat boys of Sam in second and Shane in third chasing him down. But the first big movement saw Colin decide to go on oppo and hit 911 hard on lap 4, allowing 673 and 573 to catch up to the Ulsterman and put him in to the top bend. This allowed 2016 European champion Jam to steal the lead with Miniman falling into place behind Cole, but again 66 did the big hit (this time to 616) to put 474 in front, but incredibly he was then taken out on the top bend with Shane going into the lead for the first time on lap 6. 911 attacked 573 but couldn't get him out of the way as Sam dived in on Miniman to try and take him out. A badly timed oppo for Team Bandicoot's Colin on teammate Miniman then separated themselves from the lead two in Jam and 573. Backmarker Jon then got caught up with the front two, colliding with 616 on lap 8 and allowing 474 to catch up yet again. Behind them though was a huge pile-up involving reigning champion Cole and many others, including Jake, Hunter and Sam. 66 just kept on with the oppo, upping MIniman into second with a hit on Jam on lap 9 but then hitting his own driver a lap later to put him under pressure from 616.

At the halfway point, it was Shane in the lead but was stopped again by 66, putting 474 through once more. The third Moat in the race then got involved with Dean grinding Miniman against the wall and putting Sam in first place for the first time, but this lasted only momentarily as Colin again delivered a solid head-on on the bottom bend. 474 got past and the top 3 on lap 15 was the aforementioned 474, 616 and 673. Jam then broke away as Miniman ran wide and did another teammate (Pepino) on the nose, but it would be 961 who made up for that error in judgement by hitting 616 solidly, spinning round the PiranMoto machine and sending his Dutch pal through yet again. Cole, who had recovered remarkably from the earlier pileup to get to second, was then stopped by Pepino with 3 to go and his reign was all but over. Sam was punted into a pile of cars on the top bend on the same lap, ruling him out as well. This meant it was down to Miniman and Shane. The Dutchman's lead was being eaten away by the Englishman, and when Sam inadvertently turned in too early and somehow forced 474 wide on the final bend, it was two major titles in succession for 573. Miniman kept second and Cole, already confirmed as graded points champion, picked up third. As always, commiserations to those who finished the 22 lap race but got nothing for it, especially Jam and Hunter who were the only drivers on the lead lap not to finish in the top 3.

Once again Shane proves why he has always been rated as one of the greatest racers in LFS Bangers history with a stunning drive to claim the European Championship, which sadly marks the end of all title meetings in LFS Bangers. There have been some remarkable title races over the years and it is a huge sadness that it was the final one, but it was truly one to remember.

With 6 drivers attending who were not on the grid automatically and 4 of those automatic qualifiers not in attendance, no Last Chance Race was held.

The 12 car grid for the 2019 Micro Bangers World Final was therefore as follows (reigning champion denoted by the italic C in gold brackets next to their name):

673 Sam - - - - - - - - - - - - - 870 Looney
606 Jon - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 616 Jam
997 RIk (C) - - - - - - - - - - - - 628 Stwarm
473 Dean - - - - - - - - - - - - - 786 Brett
649 Dumbo - - - - - - - - - - - - 573 Shane
902 Drakey - - - - - - - - - - - - 675 Beatdrop

This World Final became rather straightforward in terms of who came out on top, and it was proof that class is permanent...

2019 MICRO BANGERS WORLD FINAL
1st: Shane
2nd: Rik
3rd: Jam
Other finishers: Sam, Dumbo, Looney, Jon, Dean, Drakey, Brett

The last ever World Champion in LFS Bangers is someone who has held that title before, albeit not in the Micros: two-time 2 Litres World Champion Shane added the Micros title to his collection with a near all-conquering performance.

Jam was the early leader having sneaked down the inside of Sam and Looney at the end of the first lap, but he then ran wide on the second lap which opened the door for Shane to get through. With a pack of six behind him all battling with each other (consisting of Sam, Jam, Looney, Drakey, Stwarm and Rik) this gave 573 the perfect opportunity to break away at the start of the 4th lap, keeping a constant gap of 2 seconds on the chasing pack and never surrendered the lead from this point. Current & former gold roof winners Rik and Looney eventually got their own break away going on with Drakey then catching up to them. However, oppo king Brett was then involved in a war on the bend with Dean, which took 870 and 902 out of any further contention on lap 12. 997 then attempted to close down Shane and would have almost got him thanks to Jon getting in the way of the imminent new champion 3 laps from the end, but a lag spike from 786 doing Stwarm on oppo sent 628 flying into 997 and all but secured the win for Shane. Rik did get second place as compensation, but only just as Jam had caught up to him but crucially could not overtake him to remain third. As always, commiserations to those who finished the 22 lap race but got nothing for it, especially Sam and Dumbo who were the only drivers on the lead lap not to finish in the top 3.

Shane's success once again shows why he has always been a respected driver on LFS Bangers. As an aside, with Sam failing to win the World Final, this also means that Looney has become the final points champion to be crowned on LFS Bangers. I think it's fair to say we have two exemplary drivers being the last ever World & Points champions.

Final: Dean, Shane, Jon, Storm, Rik

The big cars' title of the year was decided tonight at the Foxhall Stadium in Ipswich with the 2019 Unlimited World Final. This was the fifth year the race had been held at Ipswich.

With just one of the top 10 not attending and four drivers in attendance who did not qualify automatically, it was decided that there would be no Last Chance Qualifier and the final would be run all-in, with the four non-automatic qualifiers ordered by points scored and then race number if they had 0 points. Therefore, the 13-strong 2019 Unlimited World Final grid was as follows (reigning champion denoted by the italic C in gold brackets next to their name):

673 Sam - - - - - - - - - - 616 Jam
870 Looney* - - - - - - - - 474 Miniman (C)
628 Stwarm - - - - - - - - - 606 Jon
66 Colin - - - - - - - - - - - 320 Hunter
786 Brett - - - - - - - - - - 8 Tim
997 Rik - - - - - - - - - - - 337 Spook
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 777 Stan*

The race for the title saw a big fight between three members of the same team, but it was the most decorated of the trio who came out on top...

2019 UNLIMITED WORLD FINAL
1st: Rik
2nd: Miniman
3rd: Colin
Other finishers: Jam, Sam, Stwarm, Tim, Jon, Brett

Following Looney's history making achievement of becoming the third driver behind Foster and Daz to win both the 2 Litre and Unlimited world titles last month, this was then followed tonight by Rik joining the list and in the process becoming the first continental driver to win both titles, as well as the first driver overall to win all 3 World titles (Micros, 2 Litres & Unlims). To do it from 12th on the grid was a truly remarkable achievement even by his very high standards.

Despite the rhyming couplet of 616 Jam & 673 Sam leading them away, it was reigning champion 474 Miniman who broke through and took the lead on lap 2 with 997 Rik coming through the English pairing 2 laps later. 66 Colin then got past 616 and 673 on lap 7 but at this point it looked like #474 was on course to become only the second driver to defend the Unlimited title after 238 Kane did it in 2016. That all changed on lap 14 when 786 Brett, tired of rodding, reverted back to type and dished out some big hits on oppo, firstly to Miniman which closed the gap and then evasive action by the reigning champ a lap later put Rik in the lead, and incredibly he never relinquished the lead to claim the gold roof. Jam got back into the top 3 following 474 being caught by 786 on lap 17 and even got up to second, but tragedy struck on the last lap as he ran out of fuel, allowing 474 and 66 past; he still managed to coast to fourth though, which is impressive in itself. The reigning champ crossed the line 3 seconds behind his TB teammate to get second, with Colin finishing a second behind in third for his second Unlimited World Final bronze in succession and confirming the first ever Team Bandicoot 1-2-3 in a major final. The result also gave some compensation to Jam, who was confirmed as the 2019 Unlimited Points Champion as the only way he would have been caught is if Miniman had defended his title. As always, commiserations to those who finished the 22 lap race but got nothing for it.

Rik has once again extended his LFS Bangers honours list and has joined three other truly great drivers in the list of 2 Litre & Unlimited World Champions.

Unlike recent fun meets, there was a bit more focus in this one with the return of the XFG "Robins"; these fun machines once again provided some hilarious racing and wrecking action and had four races. Ten races were held in total and saw a number of drivers win. The best performer of the night was MIniman, who won all but one of the Robin races and claimed the third and final UF1 Sumo DD. His fellow Team Bandicoot Dutchman Rik finished second with the Buxton MRT Figure 8 Ramp Race win and the first two Sumo DDs. Jam, Tilson and Sam completed the winners' list with victory in the Robins Figure 8, the Fern Bay Oval All Cars and the ridiculous Death Lane Xtreme MRT event, which lasted almost 15 minutes before someone won it!

All races were non-points. Congratulations to all the winners.

There were three absentees from the top 10 point scorers and with there being 5 drivers in attendance who had not qualified automatically, it was decided that there was to be no Last Chance Race as it would have been rather pointless.

The grid for the 2019 2 Litre World Final was therefore as follows (reigning champion denoted by the italic C in gold brackets next to their name):

911 Cole - - - - - - - - - - - - - 673 Sam
786 Brett - - - - - - - - - - - - - 870 Looney
997 Rik (C) - - - - - - - - - - - - 606 Jon
320 Hunter - - - - - - - - - - - 616 Jam
312 Mr. T-Bone - - - - - - - - 628 Stwarm
8 Tim - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 649 Dumbo

A fight between two teammates that lasted almost all the race resulted in a new 2 Litre World Champion...

2019 2 LITRE WORLD FINAL
1st: Looney
2nd: Sam
3rd: Hunter
Other finishers: Stwarm, Mr. T-Bone, Tim, Dumbo

At long last 870 Looney picks up a 2 Litre grades title and it just so happened to be the big one. With the win he becomes the third driver after 815 Daz and 307 Foster to have won the 2 Litre & Unlimited World Finals. But it wasn't an easy race to win.

786 Brett immediately surrendered any chance of winning the title by immediately going on the oppo and taking out ex-European champion 616 Jam from contention. 911 Cole had a significant lead over the rest of the field from the off and it appeared that he would walk to his second major title. Despite the efforts of Jam, Brett and 649 Dumbo on the final bend, the Ulsterman, Looney and reigning champ 997 Rik looked content with their top 3. However, a outside-in oppo hit on the Dutchman from 786 on lap 7 changed everything as it knocked Rik off the notorious inner kerbs and rolled him, meaning that a new World Champion was due. A Dutchman replaced a Dutchman in the race order though as 320 Hunter broke into the top 3. Cole was then harassed by backmarker 606 Jon for a few laps, allowing Looney to close the gap on his WCW teammate but only made the breakthrough on lap 11 as 649 pinned 911 to the top wall, letting him through. Dumbo then stopped 870 3 laps after, swapping the places again and then back to Looney 1st Cole 2nd on lap 15. The top 2 were separated by less than half a second before absolute disaster for the reigning European champion on lap 16; having to choose between the outside and inside, 911 didn't follow 870 on the outside and received a solid head-on from a train headed by Dumbo with Jon and Brett hanging out the back, dropping him all the way down to fourth and effectively ending his chances. Looney broke free and despite some more attacks from 649, held on to claim the biggest prize. Cole was set to claim second but tragedy struck again as his clutch disintegrated and was then kerbed out by Dumbo with just 3 laps left! This meant that two newcomers made it onto a major podium as 673 Sam made a superb recovery from being spun on the first lap to get second and Hunter got third. As always, commiserations to those who completed the 22 lap race but got nothing for it.

Unfortunately a proper fun meet was not able to be held tonight due to a lack of drivers. At 8:00pm there were just three in the server: Jam, Tim #8 and myself. I gave it until 8:30pm to see if anyone else would turn up but sadly that did not happen. As with the last cancelled fun meet at Easter, I did expect a scenario like this due to it being the August Bank Holiday weekend but was surprised at it just being three drivers who attended.

No results were therefore recorded.
